Family Visit

Last week we enjoyed a visit from Aunt Amanda and the cousins. Mathias and Analy had a blast running around non-stop with the boys. We spent most of our time just hanging around the house and out in the yard. We did manage to travel all the way to Gainesville one afternoon. We visited the museum and learned about old canoes.
Everyone loved the fossil exhibits and the butterflies (even though we didn't actually go into the rain forest).

Then, out of all the places to eat, we ended up at MacDonald's for supper. Even my two-year old who's only eaten there a couple of times was screaming for it. He was pretty disappointed that this one did not have a playground (Praise the Lord!). After supper we went to check out the UF bat house. It was awesome!
Here's the crowd waiting on the bats.
If you live in this area and have never gone to see the bats leaving the house for the evening, you need to go watch. Every evening at sunset thousands of bats flood out of the house for a night of eating insects. This photo doesn't do it justice. You really have to go see it for yourself.
The video is a little better. Our favorite part was the hawks that show up to eat the bats. Very cool to watch them swoop in and catch bats!
Mathias is still begging to go back and see the bats again. Hopefully we can get Jamie to take us sometime but maybe I can convince him to take me out to eat somewhere a little better next time!
