Analy's 9 month check-up

Last week Analy had to go in for her 9 month check-up. When you first get there, they take all her measurements. She weighed in at 16 lbs 6 oz (10th percentile) and 27.5 inches tall (45%). The only thing that seemed to really be growing on her was her head which is now 17.75 inches (79%). I was really hoping that she had gotten my genes when it comes to head size but I guess we'll have to wait and see!
Then the nurse asks lots of developmental questions. It makes you feel horrible when you have to answer "no" and you begin to stress about whether or not you are failing the test. Here's how part of the questioning went:
Nurse: "Is she walking?"
Me: "No."
"Is she standing on her own?"
"No"
"Is she pulling up?"
"No"
"Does she stay standing if you stand her up?"
"No"
Nurse "Now this one most answer no to at this age, does she clap?"
Me "YES!"
Nurse "Well okay sounds like she is right on track."
I'm not sure how you can have that many no's and still pass but I guess clapping must have scored us a lot of points.
The doctor said she was a very healthy girl and looked great. We already new that. Even if she is not walking yet (which is she's anything like her brother will not happen for 7 more months) she is still charming everyone! We praise God for blessing us with a precious baby girl!

More Sewing Projects

Here are a few more sewing projects that I've attempted lately. I made another dress for Analy. This time I actually tried to follow a pattern. I made a size medium but evidently she is still a small. She'll have to grow into this one. I also made a matching headband.
When I had Mathias, a lady who worked with me at DPI made a hooded towel for Mathias. He loves it and uses it all the time. I was able to figure out what she did and made one for Analy.

I think she likes it too!

New Tricks

Analy has finally learned how to tip up her own cup! I know this doesn't sound like a big deal but anything that gives me a free hand to feed myself with is a blessing.
Here is an action shot of the "tip."

Bottoms up!Aah, yummy!
This photo of Mathias speaks for itself. No, we are not potty training. He just wanted to sit on his seat one evening before bath time. He picked up the paper himself. I'm not sure where he learned this!

Good Friends

Last weekend we were blessed with a visit from friends we met while attending church in Gainesville. They now live in south FL so our visits are limited to a couple of times a year. The biggest treat of seeing them this time was meeting their son Ethan. Ethan is about 7 months old (6 weeks younger than Analy) and is already crawling and pulling up. His parents better watch out, he'll be walking soon!
Here are Analy and Ethan meeting for the first time.
Ethan wanted to get a closer look! Analy didn't mind one bit. She's used to up-close affection from her brother.
We tried to stay cool by playing in the pool. Mathias can get pretty wild and splashy so he had his own pool. Ethan and Analy enjoyed a pool to themselves.

Unfortunately I don't have more photos of their visit. We enjoyed are time together and praise God for His blessings!

Out of the crib

During our trip to GA, Mathias managed to climb out of his pack-n-play every night. This turned into climbing out of his crib when we got home. We finally had to break down and convert his crib to a toddler bed. He was pretty excited to get a "big boy" bed.
He also has a full-size bed in his room. He moves back and forth between the two. I'm not sure what makes him decide where to sleep. I don't care as long as he is staying in his room!

A dress for Analy

My parents gave me a very nice sewing machine for Christmas. I've made a few things but I've really wanted to make some dresses for Analy. Looking online, I've found all sorts of ideas. Yesterday I finally got around to trying one.
I think it turned out pretty good. We'll see what the comments are at church tomorrow to determine if I will continue to subject my child to handmade clothing. It fits good!
Analy is cutting a tooth so she's making funny face chewing on her lip.

The dress allows for crawling.

I think Mathias maybe safe! I haven't seen too many ideas for little boys.

ABC's

This video if of Mathias singing his ABCs on our drive to GA a few weeks ago. He really has the tune down.

Crawling...finally!

Today Analy finally decided to take off across the floor. I'm not sure if you can actually call it crawling or not but she is certainly going places. I'm thinking she may have gotten some inspiration from our friend's 7th month old son who visited us this weekend. She doesn't have his style for sure but maybe he got her thinking about it.

Mathias loves to coach her along.

Fun in GA

Our family had a wonderful visit to our home in GA a few weeks ago. We had so much fun spending time with our families. Mathias and Analy love being spoiled by their grandparents. They also enjoy playing with their cousins. I took my camera along but, of course, it never made it out of my bag. My mom sent me home with a few photos she took at their house. Jamie was in Brazil for the week so we hung out at my parents swimming as much as we could. It was super hot and the pool felt like bath water but the kids loved it.
Analy enjoyed floating around in her float. Mathias got to practice his swimming skills. He was actually getting around pretty good by the end of the week. As you can see, his monster float suits him. I highly recommend this float. We tried a life-jacket and he couldn't balance at all but he did great in this one.

Mathias loved to ride around the pool on Aunt Kiki's boat.
And riding around on mama's back.
This photo is for everyone who asks me if Analy lays out in the sun. You can see she has a hat, shade, and spf70! Her tan is just all natural.
We tried to get a group photo. At least the adults we cooperating!

We also got to spend time in my old playhouse. I think I got it for Christmas when I was 3 or 4 yrs old. My dad has plans to do some remodeling this winter.
Mathias enjoyed "cooking" on my old stove and playing with the dishes.
I even managed to fit in there!

Here's a little video (literally!) of Mathias jumping off the diving board. So far, he doesn't have any fear of the water. It makes me very nervous!

We had a wonderful visit! It's such a blessing to have such a great family!
