Amelia Island

We were finally able to drag Jamie to the beach for a few days! Mathias has been begging to go the entire summer. We decided to do just a few days, close by. We stayed at a motel, yes motel, right on the beach. It was easy to get to the water lugging all our junk and two little kids. The pool was on the way as well so it made for a refreshing dip (and cleaning) before returning to our room.
My kids were fearless. They went straight for the water and waves every time. You definitely had to be on your toes!

They loved playing in the sand. Digging “King Tut tombs” and making “volcanoes” instead of sandcastles.

Jamie, for some reason, enjoyed burying the kids every chance he got. Here’s Mathias as a merman.

We spent most of our time on the beach, in the pool, or relaxing in our room. We did manage to treat ourselves to a boat ride from Amelia Island to Cumberland Island.

Overall, our first vacation as a family was a success. We managed to get a descent amount of sleep and the kids didn’t go too crazy in the motel. But I suppose that will all change when we start over in a few weeks with a newborn! Maybe another trip in a couple of years!

Fun in GA - Part 4

I think I've finally gotten around to my final blog about our trip to GA back in July. My parents took a week off while we were there to hang out with us.
We got to go see fireworks in Milledgeville with Nana, Pop, and Aunt Kiki.
We hung out a lot at Nana and Pop's. Analy and Mathias helped water the plants.
 Checked out Pop's motorcycle.
 Ready to Ride!
It was kind of scary how much Analy enjoyed sitting on the motorcycle.
We finished up our time with a visit to the Georgia Aquarium.
The kids loved it!
Especially Analy. She was fearless.

The new dolphin show they have was pretty cool. Here's Mathias checking out the dolphins before the show.
We thoroughly enjoyed our two weeks with our family. Hopefully we'll get a chance to do it again soon!

Fun in GA - Part 3

Since I got sidetracked by our new van, I'll continue with the recap of our trip to GA. It was a blessing to get to spend time with all our family. At Grandma and Granddaddy's, Mathias and Analy got to play with PJ's new puppies. And I mean really new puppies, they were only a few days old. Mathias did pretty good handling the pups.
 Analy...
 not so much.
(Hopefully this will not be a sign of how she is going to treat her baby brother. I promise no puppies were harmed or permenantly injured by my children!)
They enjoyed playing outside in Grandma's flowers. They LOVED being able to walk around the yard in flip-flops or barefooted. (If any of you live in the High Springs area, you know what I mean by the crazy ants we have that prevent you from leaving your house all summer much less go in the yard without shoes.)

They also enjoyed playing with all the toys. Toys at somebody else's house are always a lot more fun!
