A Week at Saddle Ridge Ranch

Our family just finished a fun-filled week at VBS. Jamie and I enjoyed a week with our youth while Mathias and Analy had fun in the nursery class (10 kids 2 and under!). They really had fun and had wonderful teachers. As you can see from the photos and video, Mathias really had a blast. God really blessed this week at our church.

Mathias' first haircut...finally

Mathias has needed a good trim for several months. He had odd patches of long hair here and there. I had wanted Jamie to take him to a barber and have it done. Yesterday I decided I had had enough and would give it a try myself.
Here is a "before" photo. I do not claim to know how to cut hair. Jamie makes me cut his but I hate it. My preferred weapon would have been clippers but I knew Mathias wouldn't have let me near him with those. I snuck up on him with a pair of scissors. I let him sit in my lap and play an ABC computer game while I snipped here and there. I don't think it turned out too bad!

Maybe it will not be another 2 years before his next cut!

Everything tastes better with a tractor

Nothing much...

Things have been pretty quiet around here lately. We have bible school this week so I'm battling tired, grumpy babies (and not feeling too energetic myself)! I just downloaded a few new photos from the past week. Mama, are you really going to let this boy push me around?!

Analy is finally sitting up pretty good. She hasn't figured out how to lay down gracefully though so there's lots of just flopping over.

Mathias is still Mathias. Loves to hit and wrestle all the time!

Analy has started brushing her new teeth. Here she is brushing her teeth with Daddy.

Mathias has been into his train set the past few days. Analy just enjoys chewing on the tracks!

Our Garden

I'm sure y'all are tired of seeing garden photos but we are pretty amazed at how things are growing. The square foot gardening method is definitely working for us! We've been worried about the scorching temps and no rain but everything seems to be holding its own. So far, we've gotten some okra, corn, green beans, potatoes, cucumbers, and zucchini. There's lots of cantaloupes and watermelons that we are watching and their vines are taking over our yard. The peas should be ready in a few days and tomatoes should be ready eventually.

I found this monster in the garden this morning. I don't know how I over-looked it!

Please Mama, no zucchini for breakfast! Mathias wasn't so sure of it!

Mathias' 2nd Birthday: Part II, The Party

While the men were busy constructing the play set, I was busy building the cake. Mathias is still into tractors so we went for a tractor themed birthday. After the men finished the play set Saturday morning, we all had lunch to celebrate Mathias' big day, which was actually on Sunday.

We also got him a kiddie pool. He LOVES the water!

God blessed us with a wonderful weekend full of fun family time! Happy Birthday Mathias!

Mathias' 2nd Birthday: Part I, The Playset

This weekend, my family joined us to celebrate Mathias' 2nd birthday. I can't believe my baby is 2! We wanted to get him a swing set/slide so we decided to build one. Jamie and my dad worked hard between rain storms. Here are some photos of the construction.

By Friday evening we were able to swing!

There's enough room for everyone, even big kids!

And by Saturday, it was complete!

Mathias loves climbing the ramp, sliding, and swinging. I'm praying he'll be careful!

How does your garden grow? part2

Our boxes are overflowing with plants. I'm praying that we will be able to harvest some fruits and vegetables soon. The cantaloupes and watermelons are everywhere! We've put up some vertical frames too.Look at how tall our corn has gotten!

Berries!

Finally the blackberries and blueberries are beginning to ripen at our home. Mathias loves to go picking and eating. He's really good at picking only the ripe ones too. Here he is picking some blackberries... And eating...

And even sharing some!
