2011 Round-Up

For my last post of 2011, I wanted to take the opportunity to write down things about each of the kids, what they like to do and say and such. I’m hoping someday they will be able to go back and read all the stuff I’ve posted about them. I’ve kept up with things a little better with my blog than with the baby books! Hypothetically, my blog should be around forever or at least until they learn to read.

Mathias – 3.5 years old

Favorites:

Food – pizza, Frosty the Snowman cereal (Frosted mini-wheats), yogurt, orange cheese (cheddar cheese) , orange cheese sandwiches (just bread and cheese), cheeseburgers from Hardee’s or “Ak-a-donalds" (McDonalds), muscadines from our yard, and chocolate milk. (These days you claim to NOT like pecans. You complain whenever I make something with them.)

Games – peek-a-boo (hide-and-go-seek), ‘acecars, match, his “puter” (leapster), puzzles, digging in the dirt making roads, volcanoes, and sandcastles, playing on your swing-set, just LOVES playing anything outside

TV shows and Movies – Cars, Winnie the Pooh, Wild Kratts, and Cat in the Hat

You love doing anything with Daddy. You help him dig holes and fix things with tools.

Phrases – “Why…?” (pronounce “I” by you) You are definitely in that stage where you ask a million questions about everything.  “Just a ‘ittle bit – look at my fingers” while you hold up your hand with you thumb and index finger pinched together. You love to try to negotiate with Mama and Daddy. “Excuse me” anytime you want me to stop talking to someone else and listen to you.

You love to talk. You talk all the time. The only problem is no one can understand you! You talk really fast and drop a lot of letters. I usually play the role of your translator. Your grandma says your daddy talked just like this, so maybe there’s hope.

You love to dance and sing to music. Your favorite songs at the moment are “Felis Navidad” and “Hey Jude.” You can sing most of them pretty good.

You sleep with a ton of stuff in your bed. All sorts of toys, about 6 blankets, and your 2 “GiGi’s” are necessary every bedtime. If we don’t fix your blankets just right “make them big and throw them in the sky” you get very upset. Each morning, you would love to come get in our bed and sleep a few hours more. Instead, you usually get to lay in Mama’s chair until you wake up good. You’re a lot like me, it takes you a while to wake up and get going in the morning. Your bedtime is around 8pm and you wake up around 7am or later.

You love for Daddy to tell you stories he makes up about the “Big Gray Castle” and the dragons that live there. You also love the bible stories about David and “Jesus dying on the cross and coming back to life” as you call it.

You like to go to church. You love Mrs. Patty’s class. You like to play with Trent, Christopher, and Brody. You like to stay in “big church” with Mama and Daddy. Daddy lets you play games like “Angry Birds” on his iphone.

You love to “do school.” We haven’t done too much yet but we have been learning letters and numbers. You like to color and paint. You ask me every morning to “do school.”

Analy – 2 years old

Favorites:

Food – pizza, rice crispies, pop-tarts, yogurt, orange cheese (cheddar cheese) , orange cheese sandwiches (just bread and cheese), cheeseburgers from Hardee’s or “Ak-adonalds" (McDonalds), blueberries from our bushes, macaroni and cheese, candy and cookies, and juice. You love to eat. You are our little “grazer". We leave food out on the table and you just snack on it all day long.

Games – peek-a-boo (hide-and-go-seek), dress-up, pretend cooking, trains, putting on “make-ups” and “chapastick”, playing with dolls, and tea parties

TV shows and Movies – Scooby Doo, “Cindera-ra”, “Booty and the Beast”, Wild Kratts, and Cat in the Hat

You love anything “princess.” Your favorite toys are Disney princess dolls or have princess stuff printed on them. You love to wear dresses and to pick out what you wear each day. You like to put on make-up and “chap-a-stick.” You love to have your fingernail and toenails painted. You like jewelry, especially my jewelry in my jewelry box.

You love to talk. You talk non-stop from the moment you wake up until you fall asleep at night. You wake-up in the mornings going full speed wanting to “get something to eat” immediately. You actually do talk yourself to sleep at night! Your most common answer to our questions are “maybe so” and “'ou can.”  You call your brothers “Thi-thi and Baby Jude.” You have a very tender heart and feel bad when others are hurt or crying. You say “it’s okay, you’re okay” and give a hug and kiss.

You love to sing and dance. Your favorite song to sing is your ABC’s. Your favorite Christmas song is “O’Christmas Tree.” You love to hear “I Saw the Light” in the car. You also like to stand up on chairs and table and shout “I’m the Statute of ‘Iberty.”

You love people. At church, you love to go sit and visit with other people. You are so sweet to everybody, especially if they have some food or candy to share. You’re definitely our little politician.

Your favorite books are about princesses. You love “Sleeping Booty,” “Cindera-ra,” and “Booty and the Beast.” You are always asking who’s the “bad guy” in every story. You also like the book”Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes.” You call it “Baby Jude’s book.” You say that Jude was born in a castle far, far away.

You go to bed about 8pm and get up at 7am or before. You sleep with 2 blankets, a bear, and at least 2 dolls. You fill your bed up with all sorts of toys and books. Unlike Mathias you wake up going full speed. You don’t like to cuddle in our bed. You want us up and fixing your breakfast!

You like to “match” things. You are not really big on “school” yet. You don’t like to sit still long enough to do much.

Well your favorite food is pretty obvious. You’re still just nursing.

You love your fingers! You chew and suck on them all the time. I guess you like your pacifier. You like the little mirror toy that you can lay in front of and grab toys. You also like to lay under your toy gym thing and kick the toys that hang down.

You HATE to lay on your belly. Your “tummy time” lasts about 5 seconds before you start screaming. It takes me a few minutes to get you calm after the trauma. I don’t think you’ll ever roll-over or crawl. Also, anytime you are on the floor your brother and sister are all over you, giving you kisses and toys.

You love your brother and sister. You smile and coo at them whenever they are in your face (which is anytime you are awake). They definitely love their little brother!

These days you like to smile and stick your tongue out at us. You like to kick and grab at toys.  You love bath time! You like to look at and talk to people. You’re blowing “raspberries” too.

You sleep through the night! You usually go to bed first about 7:30pm and are the last to wake up in the morning, about 8am or later. You take a morning and afternoon nap (a couple of hours or more each) and sometimes a catnap in between. You’re a very easy baby!

You are all such a blessing to us! Your mama and daddy are looking forward to the year and years to come! Praise God!

Family Pics 2011

On Thanksgiving, my sister-in-law was sweet enough to take some photos of our family at their grandparents’ home. Thanks so much Amanda! These are the first photos we have of the five of us!

Christmas Fun!

Here are some photos to recap some of the fun we had with family during our trip to GA.

We started our visit the weekend before Christmas at Nana and Pop’s house. Jude loved stretching on the floor after the long trip. Praise the Lord my kids are great travellers! We usually only make one big, everyone get out of the car stop for the 5 hour trip.

We started our visit off by exchanging gifts with Nana, Pop, and Aunt Kiki.

December Church Activities

This year we rode on our church’s float in the High Springs Christmas parade. We were also in the church’s Christmas cantata. Analy was a sheep, Mathias a camel, and Jamie, Jude, and I were Joseph, Mary, and baby Jesus. (I think Jude got us the roles this year!)

Our cute little sheep on our float waiting for the parade to start.

Festival of Lights

Since Jamie and I grew up visiting “Christmas in Dixie", we’ve been keen to find a nice place to go see lights with our family. This year we tried out the Festival of Lights at Stephen Foster State Park. We were pretty impressed (but nothing will ever beat Christmas in Dixie!).

We started by checking out the Arts and Crafts area.
