The Mountains

The Mountains. This is how we have come to refer to our adventure to my Aunt and Uncle’s house in Sylva, NC. Our kids have never seen a mountain. Actually, they’ve never seen many hills! They were very excited at our first stop at the country store overlooking Tallulah Gorge.

Jude did not want to be left out.

After a long drive we finally made it to my Aunt and Uncle’s. It was nice to get out and do some hiking. Everyone needed a good walking stick.

There was a creek and waterfall near their house. We all loved splashing around and searching for critters.

Uncle Scott, Jamie, and Mathias checking out a crawfish. We also found salamanders, caddis flies, and I swear I saw a fish!

Mathias wanted to slide down the waterfall so bad. It was tough to convince him that the rocks were hard and bumpy.

Jamie and I hiked up the falls and thankfully did not slip.

We enjoyed a fire and roasting marshmallows one evening.

We enjoyed relaxing on their beautiful deck. This was our favorite spot!

We drove up the Blue Ridge Parkway a bit to this overlook. What a crazy bunch! I think the thinner air was affecting their minds.

Enjoying snack time on top of the world!

These guys are just too cool! No literally, it was pretty chilly on top of the mountain.

We had a wonderful weekend! Mathias is still begging us to move to the mountains. Maybe someday, Mathias, maybe someday.

    1. I know! They actually live in ATL but have been building a house in Sylva the past few years. I'd hoped we'd visit them while y'all we still there. It's a long drive from FL to NC so this is the first trip we've made.
